Deakin and the Institute of Frontier Materials: Pioneering Yarn Innovation

Knovus collaborates with Deakin University and the Institute of Frontier Materials (IFM) to test their experimental yarns and as the knitting partner for various innovative projects. This includes significantDeakin/Knovuscollaborations, such as with Nanollose/Lee Matthews and County Road/Full Circle Fibres. Each enabled the creation of a garment from an exciting new developmental yarn.

Our role is to meticulously knit their very limited amounts of experimental yarns, a process that involves careful evaluation of their capability and performance in knitting applications. This careful and precise testing process ensures that the yarns meet the necessary standards for future use in the fashion and textile industries.

IFM, as part of the ARC Research Hub in Future Fibres at Deakin, is an ideal partner for Knovus. Both organisations are strongly committed to sustainability, innovation, and leveraging advanced technology in textile development. Together, we push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of fibres and knitting, striving to create sustainable and innovative solutions that have a lasting impact on the industry.
